Twelve weeks 😎

Hey Reader,

Twelve weeks ago, I began a cycle.

A guided practice really of returning to myself. 💫

What came through on the other side surprised me in the best way: not a louder version of who I've been, but a clearer one.

I spent years naming myself a DEI practitioner or JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Strategist. I've managed DEI initiatives. I've held space for DEI practitioners who were burning out under the weight of work that organizations asked them to carry alone.

To be honest, I have never stopped doing this work.

But somewhere in these twelve weeks, I started truly acknowledging my evolving vision and the values of equity and inclusion that are unwavering as I walk alongside organizations equally unwavering in their commitment.

The ongoing practice is divorcing from white supremacy—not just as a professional stance, but as a personal one. Examining where it has shaped how I work, how I hustle, how I measure my worth.

8 years after marital divorce, I’m facing the even harder truth that sometimes the relationship doesn’t get better, it gets worse. Oof. This ongoing reckoning is teaching me grace, patience, and most importantly, my own sovereignty to move differently as a loving act of embodying my values of presence, interdependence, and joy.

In navigating this ongoing uncertainty in my parenting life, it has changed how I show up for organizations now—a regulated Black queer mama and founder moving from a reactive survival loop into a proactive state of integrity and care.

Next week, you'll hear me talk about it in a podcast episode that’s dropping. I can't wait to share it with you! It’s a juicy one. ✨🎧

In the meantime, I've been writing. This week I published a LinkedIn article ⤵️

The Quiet Gap Between Those 2020 Statements and Implementation

In researching for it, I found something that stopped me in my tracks: a March 26, 2026 Executive Order that extended the federal government's reach to contractors, requiring them to certify they don't engage in what it calls "racially discriminatory DEI activities."

Gasp. Is this for real? Knowing it is with real consequences.

On top of what has already been happening since January 2025 when many organizations responded the way people do when they're scared. They went quiet. Values may have remained yet statements disappeared and the work stalled or stopped altogether.

While I understand the fear, I cannot remain there. I'm clear that quiet is not where I'm called to be.

This goes for DEI. This goes for this week’s Supreme Court decision on the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

This is the clarity 🪄

I help changemakers and organizations move from a reactive survival loop into a proactive state of integrity and care.

Cry. Scream. Get Angry. Grieve. Repeat. 🔁

Then, get ready to take action.

That's the work. That's the invitation.

That will be my focus for the next 100 days.

Because I recommit to another 12 week cycle.

We get to dream a new reality and build differently.

Hey Reader, The last 7 days knocked me sideways. Last week, I wrote you a message that I planned to send after taking a nap. That nap ended up being 3 hours long and I accepted that rest was the priority. Then by Monday, I was not feeling any better and decided to test for COVID. Welp, this mama tested positive!! 16 days into the new school year, and all of my plans got smaller out of necessity instead of choice, including parenting my daughter this week. Eclipse season asked for surrender,...

Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes

Hey Reader, I planned to send this to you on Friday, I even attended a co-working sess for accountability. And instead of pushing, I allowed the day to be one of collaborative synergy that turned into an afternoon in the sun, drinking an adult slushie along with chips and gauc! 🥑⚡️😎 Even so, I’ll be honest with you—my heart has felt heavy ❤️🔥 Between Nolan Wells heavenly birthday 🕊️and the seventh Black individual found hung from a tree. As a Black mama, my heart breaks to type that sentence,...

Camping at the Beach

Reader, from community, collaborators, and conversations with potential clients to some low-tech family time in one of my favorite spots in the world. Here’s a photo from the past so that you can imagine where I am today as this lands in your inbox: Wherever you are in this moment, let this be a moment to take a deep breath and center on what’s in your sphere of influence. Feel your feet on the ground. Or in my case, the sand in my toes. Ask yourself 🪄 What do you need now? Water? A hug? A...
