Maycember is here 😅

Hey Reader,

I am in the deep end this week. 🌊

And honestly? This is exactly where I want to be.

I had my kiddo’s last elementary Open House last night. 🥹

Reminding me that we’re in the descent of the school year with 18 school days remaining and more events coming up that I need to add to my calendar!

In the lab, being in the deep end is what it feels like to bring an organization’s DEIJ compass to life.

A current partnership is asking me to co-create something innovative with them. While making it actionable for the hostile socio-political times we’re currently living through. And I am invigorated by it. 💖

This is the gap I exist to close—the space between a statement of commitment and the infrastructure to back it up.

Watching an organization move from "we believe and commit to this" to "here's how we're actually building toward it"—that's the work. That's the joy and justice I’m experiencing this week!

Curious to learn more, hit reply and let’s chat 💕

New episode dropped. It’s a juicy one. ✨🎧

I sat down with Craig Pelkey-Landes on Yell Fire! and talked about survival contracts, Radical Rest, and what sovereignty actually requires of us right now.

We got into my latest inflection point—navigating a system I thought would protect my family, and learning again how to find internal safety and trust when it didn't. And, it’s impacted how I am not working with organizations.

I showed up as the work-in-progress that I am. No performance. As such, it felt like one of my most authentic conversations to date.

🎙️ Listen to the episode here!

Both things are true this week:

I am near the finish line. And I know the wisdom is in the final stretch.

I am in the deep end. And I know exactly why I'm swimming so fiercely.

That's what moving from survival mode to sovereignty actually looks like in practice.

Not a destination. An ongoing, relational, capacity-building evolution.

If you're in the middle of your own deep end right now—I see you.

Keep going. ❤️‍🔥

Hey Reader, The last 7 days knocked me sideways. Last week, I wrote you a message that I planned to send after taking a nap. That nap ended up being 3 hours long and I accepted that rest was the priority. Then by Monday, I was not feeling any better and decided to test for COVID. Welp, this mama tested positive!! 16 days into the new school year, and all of my plans got smaller out of necessity instead of choice, including parenting my daughter this week. Eclipse season asked for surrender,...

Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes

Hey Reader, I planned to send this to you on Friday, I even attended a co-working sess for accountability. And instead of pushing, I allowed the day to be one of collaborative synergy that turned into an afternoon in the sun, drinking an adult slushie along with chips and gauc! 🥑⚡️😎 Even so, I’ll be honest with you—my heart has felt heavy ❤️🔥 Between Nolan Wells heavenly birthday 🕊️and the seventh Black individual found hung from a tree. As a Black mama, my heart breaks to type that sentence,...

Camping at the Beach

Reader, from community, collaborators, and conversations with potential clients to some low-tech family time in one of my favorite spots in the world. Here’s a photo from the past so that you can imagine where I am today as this lands in your inbox: Wherever you are in this moment, let this be a moment to take a deep breath and center on what’s in your sphere of influence. Feel your feet on the ground. Or in my case, the sand in my toes. Ask yourself 🪄 What do you need now? Water? A hug? A...
