I Made It to the Finish Line ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ

Reader, I need to say it plainly: Maycember is real. ๐Ÿ˜…

Last time I showed up in your inbox, I named what so many of us feel every spring. May does not ease in. It escalates. ๐Ÿ’จ

I have been living proof of that for the past two weeks.

I put my head down. I stayed in it. I did not look up much.

nd this week, I crossed the finish line for my client.
๐Ÿ

We are talking about a virtual Town Hall for 45 people.

Facilitated. Held. Done. โœ…

We are talking about a 50-page guide.

Written. Delivered. Done. โœ…

Oh, and a well-being session for 40 high school educators in between! ๐Ÿ’š

That is the kind of work that requires you to trust yourself all the way through, even when you are tired, even when you know itโ€™s taking you longer to finish then you expected or planned. However, this timeโ€”you stayed regulated and enJOYed the process. ๐Ÿคญ

I showed up for it, and I am proud of that. This is work worth celebrating.

Now here we are. Friday. A 3-day weekend stretching out in front of us.

June is a week away. Pride Month is a week away. Summer is on the horizon. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Plus, my daughter Jaylin is coming home today from her 5th grade outdoor education trip. Three days, two nights, the whole experience. I have been counting down every hour. There is truly nothing like that moment when you pick up your kid with trail dirt on their shoes and a thousand stories to tell.

This is Justice & Joy happening simultaneously. ๐Ÿค—

My acupuncturist gave me something to sit with during the Fire Season (the Chinese medicine elemental timeline from May 5 - August 7). I want to offer it to you too, because I think it belongs to all of us right now ๐Ÿ”ฅ

FIRE SEASON PROVOCATION โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

What would it mean to let my spirit shine without burning out?

Read it again. Slowly.

Because I think so many of us have been taught that the only way to shine is to pour everything out. That visibility requires depletion. That if it did not cost you something, it does not count.

What if that is not true?

What if the goal of this summer is to figure out what it looks like to be fully, radiantly yourself, without requiring your own burnout as the proof?

I am not there yet. I am asking the question alongside you.

I am heading into this long weekend holding it, and I wanted you to have it too.

As May closes and we prepare to step into summer, I want to invite you into your own reflection:

YOUR REFLECTION FOR THE WEEKEND

  • Where did you shine this month?
  • Where did you carry more than was yours to carry?
  • And what would it look like to step into June a little lighter?

You do not have to answer these out loud.

You do not have to share them anywhere.

Let yourself sit with them. That is the work of this season too. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

Wishing you a restful, safe, and joyful 3-day weekend!

Rooted in love. Blooming in liberation. ๐ŸŒป

Hey Reader, The last 7 days knocked me sideways. Last week, I wrote you a message that I planned to send after taking a nap. That nap ended up being 3 hours long and I accepted that rest was the priority. Then by Monday, I was not feeling any better and decided to test for COVID. Welp, this mama tested positive!! 16 days into the new school year, and all of my plans got smaller out of necessity instead of choice, including parenting my daughter this week. Eclipse season asked for surrender,...

Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes

Hey Reader, I planned to send this to you on Friday, I even attended a co-working sess for accountability. And instead of pushing, I allowed the day to be one of collaborative synergy that turned into an afternoon in the sun, drinking an adult slushie along with chips and gauc! ๐Ÿฅ‘โšก๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž Even so, Iโ€™ll be honest with youโ€”my heart has felt heavy โค๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ Between Nolan Wells heavenly birthday ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธand the seventh Black individual found hung from a tree. As a Black mama, my heart breaks to type that sentence,...

Camping at the Beach

Reader, from community, collaborators, and conversations with potential clients to some low-tech family time in one of my favorite spots in the world. Hereโ€™s a photo from the past so that you can imagine where I am today as this lands in your inbox: Wherever you are in this moment, let this be a moment to take a deep breath and center on whatโ€™s in your sphere of influence. Feel your feet on the ground. Or in my case, the sand in my toes. Ask yourself ๐Ÿช„ What do you need now? Water? A hug? A...
